The story of how an African Grey parrot named Chanel Chanellington’s escape from her owner has turned them into an internet sensation.

Sandra Hannah, the proud owner of a beloved African Grey parrot, named Chanel Chanellington, went live on Facebook after Chanel escaped from her home in Netherton, Liverpool. after being startled by a loud noise.

Sandra Hannah took to Facebook live as a means to find her cherished pet. In this video she is seen calling out “CHANEEEEEELLL” in a desperate attempt to find her Parrot. This video was viewed on Facebook over 65 thousand times until it was shared on twitter where it’s rise to fame as an iconic meme took off with the hashtag #FINDCHANEL.

Sandra Hannah and her family were devastated at the loss of their beloved bird as they spent much time searching for it. Chanel was eventually found as she was knocking on the window of someone who had seen the Viral facebook video, saying “hello hello hello” and they kindly hand delivered the famous parrot back to its distraught owner. Sandra Hannah has thanked the existence of social media for helping her find her parrot and she has said “it was the worst day of my life, the worst”.

Chanel and her owner have both become stars thanks to their viral facebook video and have appeared on This Morning with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield to talk about their ordeal. The interview made for a hilarious distraction from the ongoing pandemic for both viewers and the hosts.

Recently, Chanel has turned two years old and she may not have if it she didn’t go live on Facebook in her search for her parrot. Sandra and Chanel also offer a service to fans for a small fee in which they will make them a personalised video called Cameos and they continue to be present for their fan base on Facebook, Twitter and TikTok where she has over 90 thousand followers and 1.7 Million likes.
